What is Aptis ESOL?

Aptis ESOL is developed by the British Council . It is regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) in England. Aptis ESOL assesses English language proficiency in all four skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing, at all levels from A1 to C2 on the CEFR.

Where can I use the Aptis ESOL qualification?

You can use Aptis ESOL to certify your English level according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). The test is regulated by Ofqual and provides a reliable proof of your English level.

What is the test format?

 Aptis ESOL is taken on a computer, in supervised face-to-face sessions and you take the test in our school as we are an authorized testing centre.

 When  and how do I get the results?

 You receive you results in .pdf format and a paper certificate in the post within 7 days of taking the test.

How do I choose what level I should sit for?

 There are 3 different types of Aptis ESOL test:

Aptis ESOL General is a general English proficiency test for candidates testing levels A1 to B2 on the CEFR. 

Aptis ESOL Advanced is a variant of Aptis which tests language proficiency from B1 to C2 on the CEFR. Tasks are more complex

Aptis ESOL for Teachers The test content relates to teachers.  It has the same format as Aptis ESOL General and tests levels from A1 to B2. 

Can companies use Aptis ESOL testing?

Companies and institutions can use Aptis ESOL to validate the level of English of their candidates, employees or students and ensure that they meet the proficiency requirements.

How Much is It?

The price of the test is included in the course price. We currenly do not offer the option to apply to take the test only because e the availabe spaces are reserved to our current students at the end of their courses. If you have an urgent need to take the test we will , of course, try our best to see if there is a place available for you. In this case, the cost of the test only is £80.
