Accessing help for your mental health, It can be very overwhelming and one of the main reasons why people don’t. People tend to overlook their mental health as physical and dietary health usually become more of a priority. In this blog we have listed the top 5 ways to help with your mental health.
1. Get Active!
Believe it or not, getting active and doing physical activity is one of the best ways to raise your self-esteem. You can start small with a 5 – 10-minute walk down the road or in your garden to get some fresh air. Also, physical activity causes chemical changes in the brain that positively change your mood
2. Read a book. Reading is an amazing way to escape the real world and allow your mind to go on an adventure. It can help get rid of anxiety and help with sleep
3. Listen to your favourite music. A great way to shift your mental health up a gear is listening to some upbeat music or music you love. Avoiding slow and emotional songs is a must as well as enjoying something that makes you feel good.
4. Listen to a funny podcast. Here at Queens English we try and suggest podcasts that are either useful for our students or appropriate to the season. You can Google some funny, motivational and uplifting podcasts and listen when driving, on the bus, on a walk, or even before you sleep to lift your mood.
5. Talk to people! This is such an overlooked but important point! Communicate. Sometimes having a coffee with a friend to moan about your boss, or the annoying receptionist at work, it’s that little thing that we need and what better way to do this than with a friend? Communication is the best way to get things off your chest.
